Sara grabs first title


Sara Dolan had to overcome all the best players and showed great bravery to come through a good few moments of crisis to snatch her first ever tournament win and Eastpoint's first ever girls title. Having negotiated a tricky group stage with tough matches against Kerrie Phoenix and Nicole Brady. Sara faced Clodagh McCullough in the semi final. At two sets down Sara won a really tough deuce and went on to level the match at 2-2. She proved the stronger in the fifth set with strong forehand attack overwhelming Clodagh.
In the final Sara faced Rebecca Kenny and it was another close battle with Sara 2-1 up this time but Rebecca leveling the match. however Sara was in command in the fifth racing into a 6-0 lead and claiming her first Leinster junior girls title.

In the Under 12 Boys Sean O'Donovan and James Foxe put in a magnificent performance to reach the quarter finals. In the end Sean finished fifth beating both James and Mark Foley from Howth , who he had lost to in an earlier round group. Jack Traynor finished joint ninth having also lost to Sean in the Last 16. Philip Scarry won the plate beating Kevin Hughes in the final in a very exciting match 11-9 in the fifth.  Well done to all the young players who had a great tournament.

Meanwhile in the juniors Ian Fahe  finished sixth. Matthew Jones and Stephen Hanaphy were beaten in the last 16. the tournament continues on Sunday with the Cadets.
