Gavin Maguire had a fantastic european youth championships in the sunshine in Terni,Italy. He finished up winning 4 out of 5 matches with victories over the Belarus number one and a win against Scotland that was vital fo rthe match score. His performances were among the best I have ever seen at a EYC by an Irsih player. Team Mates Paul MacCreery, Sam Hanley and Daniel Keenan combined with Gavin to bring the team to finish in 33 place from the 45 countries at the championships. Gavin's only loss was to the Luxembourg number one Christian Kill and even that was a 8 in the fifth match which Gavin could have won in four games.
