Summer 08 was a busy one

Mark and Gav

There was a good times when you have wonder if there is such a thing as a season anymore. June was hectic with tournaments in Prague and Cippenham:

Prague: Adam Claffey, Conor Beades and Luke OShea  made the trip to Prague. It was an excellent and interesting tournament with a high standard and lots of matches.Adam did well to win 9 singles but it was difficult to make progress in the rounds of the tournment. a training session in one of clubs in Prague on Thursday night was a good experience for the players

Cippenham: This was a good tournament for matches also and there was the opportunity to train in the club for a couple of sessions. Unfortunately the trip was overshadowed by Luke's injury on the first day of the tournment. He dilocated his knee and will be out for a while. We wish him a speedy recovery. Matthew Jones, Joe Robinson, joined Adam Claffey and Luke OShea on this trip to Slough.

Montpellier: It is the club's fourth visit to to the Montpellier club in France and it was another great week of training. The tough schedule here at the club shows the young players what they need to do to improve and Ghislain the head coach is always around with a good humoured word of encouragement for everyone. It was hot (about 35 dregees most days!) and running for 30 minutes every morning was hard going but Conor, Adam, Matthew, Joe and Stephen worked hard at the camp and will benefit from it in the future. at the weekend there was some R'n'R for the players as you can see from the photo (right) which shows the five boys on the water shute in Europark.
