Irish Ranking Belfast: Gavin Maguire and Mark OFlynn both had good tournaments. gavin reached the Semi finals by beating Shane Dolan 3-0 in the quarter final. He lost 3-1 to Keith Knox in the semi. Mark was close in a titanic struggle with David Hayes in the quarters. He had chances at 2-1 up and 8-7 up but having let these go he lost out in the fifth. he did however go on to win the 5-8 playoff. Stockton Select: Mark had a really good tournament getting to the final of the Junior Grade One.Along the way he had some good wins especially in the semi where he beat Matthew Ware in an exciiting 5 setter. then in the main singles he went on to beat Dorian Robinson 3-0 to progress to the last 32 where he lost a scappy 3-1 to Mark Simpson. Gavin also had somegood wins in Stockton notable over Kim Daybell in a thrilling five setter. Neal OFlynn lost out in the quarter finals of the under 12s. since this was the only quarter that meant he effectivly finished 5th. Two of the four players in the semis are players he has won against recently so the draw was a tiny bit unkind to him Leinster Metropolitan: Mark successfully defended the trophy he won last year. The round Robin format came to his rescue after he lost to Gavin in the first match but went on to win all his remaining matches.His best performance was a 3-0 win over Sam hanley in the last match when he needed to win to claim the outright title. There were other good performances from Eastpoint players. Luke OShea finished 5th in the under 12s. Brian Forde lost the division 2 final in 5 sets. Conor Beades won the under 12s division 2 plate.In the under 14s Sean Slein narrowly lost out to get into the Round robin and he was runner up in the plate |
