| Gavin grabs the headlines First
ranking tournament of the year belong to Gavin as he stole on
a march on the favourites to win the tournament. He powered
his way past Mark in the semis and then proceeded to come from
behind in the final against Daniel Keenan to win 3-2. This was
an impressive start to the season.
Mark wins the double Mark
took the Leinster Metropolitan by storm by completing a Junior
and Cadet Double win at the event. It was all the more impressive
that both events were a Round Robin format with Mark winning
all his matches in the Cadet Round Robin and losing only one
in the Junior Round Robin 11-9 in the fifth to Daniel.
Mark dazzles at Tees-Side Mark
turned on the style at the Stockton on Tees Select reaching
the Quarter Finals in the Cadets where he lost a thrilling encounter
to number 4 Seed William Maybanks in the fifth set. This was
a superb match with a fabulous rallies and great grit and determination
from both players.
The Curse of the Valley It
struck again!! The valley leisure centre is not Mark's favourite
venue. Last year he lost in the last 32 and this year the curse
struck again with Mark losing to Paul McCreery. Nael promptly
beat Paul in the Quarter Finals toreach his first Cadet semi.
Gavin lost in the other semi to Sam Hanley.
National
Championships disappointment Mark returned to form with
a good preformance in the National Championships beating Danile
Keenan 3-0 in the semi final. Once again Gavin failed to win
against Sam Hanley thus preventing an all Eastpoint final. The
final was a disappointment for Mark, who has been consistantly
the best Cadet over the past 12 months. From a position of 2-1
up in the final he lost 3-2. In the Juniors he narrowly missed
out on a semi final place 11-9 in the fifth to Shane Dolan.
Munster
Open semi for Niall Niall McDonnell overcame the disapointment
of the National Championships to reach the Semi Final in the
Juniors in Cork. He had some good wins along the way beating
ryan Flood and Gervais Knox to progress to that stage. Mark
rached another Cadet final only to reverse his results of last
week. This time he beat Sam Hanley in the semi but lost
to Daniel Keenan in the final. It was Gavin's turn to have a
bad result with a quarter final loss to Paul McCreery.
