It was a triple whammy for Eastpoint in the Munster Open Cadet tournament with three players in the Semi Finals. Unfortunately Keith Knox stole in to exact revenge for the Leinster Open and take the title. It was an exciting event and since Shane Foster and Conor Morgan were in the Last 16 play Off final ( won 3-1 by Conor) we had 5 in the top 10. There were upsets however and Andy Holohan went out 3-0 to Paul McCreery in the Last 16. In the quarters Gavin Maguire fought out a good win Against number 4 seed Daniel Keenan to book his semi final place. Naill mcDonnell won 3-1 against number 2 seed Patrick Guy to line up against Gavin in the semi. Mark O'Flynn had to play out a repeat of his Leinster Open final in his semi and Keith Knox was really fired up and did not give Mark much chance. Niall won a tight semi 3-1 against Gavin and took one end in the final against Keith but could not shut Keith out in the other sets and went down 3-1 This Munster open was a very good tournament for us.Na Ning from our Premier division team was in the final of the mens where he lost 3-2 to Jason Sugrue in a superb game. John Bowe and Na Ning then claimed the Mens Doubles title. John Murphy was the Junior Boys winner with a superb preformance which saw him negotiate the most difficult draw possible to win the quarters against Ross Cullen, the semi against David Hayes and the final against Peter Graham and thereby claim the Munster open title. |
