John and Conor blast their way to the semis in the Irish Ranking |
John Murphy and Conor Nolan both won their way to the Semi finals of the first Irish Junior Ranking. Conor beat Johnny McCarthy in the quarter finals 13-11,11-7,11-4 while John accounted for Ross Cullen. In the Semis both lost 3-1.John lost out to Irish No.1 Sean Brady while Conor lost to Colin Byrne. It was a very encouraging start to a season which sees both boys challenging the Seniors while still being Under 16. Brian Farrell and Andrew Boland both lost out narrowly on a place in the top twelve. Brian lost to Johnny McCarthy 3-0 while Andy lost in a close battle with Tom McDonagh 11-7 in the fifth. James Berry finished the tournament with a good win over Irish No.3 cadet Stephen Keenan 11-9 in the fifth in the play offs. In the cadets Andrew Holohan finish up at Number 13 in his first season in this age group. This makes him the Number 3 Under 13 in Ireland and he had some fine performances in both the Under 17s and the Under 14s. Mark (13 joint) Gavin (17) and Shane(18) all also played well. |
