It is the Refreshing taste of 11 Up as the ITTF make sweeping changes to the rules

The International Table Tennis Association has made sweeping changes to the game at their latest congress in Osaka. The scoring system that has been in place for a century sees them take the 21 out of 21st Century and replace it with 5 or 9 games to 11 with crucially 2 services each. This is to take effect in September 2001

Whatever about this the most radical change is to limit the effectiveness of service by only permitting players to serve in front of their body. This change will only come into effect in September 2002. None the less this will alter the game significantly with longer rallies expected but I wonder will it not just lead to players being able to attack more against service and this could mean shorter rallies.

Anyway Table Tennis in the new Century will be different!!! You can read more at www.ttireland.com and www.ittf.com. Watch this Space!!
